Sitting in the garden of Hap Cottage in Stroud, Gloucestershire, is this beautiful single storey circular garden studio. Inspired by a natural build they had spotted on the Pembrokeshire Coast, owners Alison and Stewart reached out to Barbara to design their own straw bale studio.
It was self built with contractor help and training courses from SNaB. The resulting building is a peaceful, multipurpose space with a small kitchen and toilet to the rear. Finished with an external lime render and a curved living roof, the building sits low, connecting it organically with the surrounding landscape.
It is used as both a studio space for Alison’s psychotherapy practice and as a spare room for visiting friends and family. Read about Alison and Stuart’s experience of the build here.
