We designed this 2 storey, three bedroom loadbearing house for Ann in Essex. It was built by local contractors and participants on SNaB training courses.
Designed to fit into the existing streetscape, the house retains the ridge height and general form of neighbouring houses and is finished with an overhanging slate roof. External timber cladding was used to protect the lime rendered gable ends, giving it an aesthetic finish. Positioned to maximise passive solar gain, only a small wood burning stove of 3kW was needed to meet the additional space heating requirements.
