This simple but beautiful holiday cottage in Isleornsay on Skye was completed in 2017.
It is a loadbearing building with car tyre foundations. It was lovingly crafted by owner Nicola Macbride, with help from Emma Appleton and James Wilson – both of whom specialise in sustainable building. Clay plaster walls and local larch wood give the bothy a warm organic feel.
