STRAW WORKS is led by Barbara Jones, formerly of AMAZONAILS.
Barbara and her team of Associates have created many beautiful and durable residential and commercial buildings using straw bales and natural materials. Collectively they have been involved in some capacity with more than 300 buildings in the UK and Europe, ranging from tiny garden buildings to the UK’s largest straw bale building to date. People and organisations, across Europe, already benefit from inhabiting these super-insulated, healthy and beautiful spaces.
STRAW WORKS services include:
- Full architectural design and planning
- Consultancy on Strawbale projects and building regulations
- Training in Strawbale building and natural plastering
STRAW WORKS builds on many years of extensive experience and comprehensive knowledge within the field of strawbale building. They provide exceptional services for self-builders and contractors. Just ask for testimonials!
Latest news: a new service for self-builders called Preparing to Build with Bales. This one day seminar will explain techniques you can use to bring your project in on quality, on budget and on time. Next seminar: Thursday 30 January at Hackney City Farm, London. Click here for more info.
Barbara was recently part of Sisterhood and After: an oral history of the Women’s Liberation Movement, a project by the British Library and Sussex University to record the experiences of 60 women who were active in the Women’s Liberation Movement. In this video she talks about women on the tools.
STRAW WORKS is based in Todmorden (UK) and works Europe-wide, including the UK, Guernsey, Crete, Germany and Italy.
